Sissy Thiessen Kootenayoo of Wase Saba (Black Bear) Experiences is a Two Spirit Treaty 6 Nakota Sioux, Cree and German cultural educator, Powwow dancer, instructor and multidisciplinary performing artist. In this three-part series, Sissy will guide us to better understand Indigenous culture, protocol, and allyship.

Sunday, October 29 Indigenous Awareness & Protocol 101 Good relationships with Indigenous people always start with protocol. We’ll learn what protocol is, how and why it’s offered, and how to make tobacco ties for offering. This session will also include an overview of commonly-used medicines, terminology and traditional names.
