Sissy Thiessen Kootenayoo of Wase Saba (Black Bear) Experiences is a Two Spirit Treaty 6 Nakota Sioux, Cree and German cultural educator, Powwow dancer, instructor and multidisciplinary performing artist. In this three-part series, Sissy will guide us to better understand Indigenous culture, protocol, and allyship.

Sunday, October 22 Powwow & Round Dance 101 This first session is an introduction to Powwow, its importance to Indigenous People, and its connection to the drum. You'll hear stories of the creation of each style and the rights to practice. A short portion of this session will include learning the basic intertribal step, step demonstrations, and a group round dance.
